So at long last i've finally been able to dive fully back into Substance Painter and re-charge my texturing skills- all thanks to this AKM rifle provided by the amazing Tim Bergholz of Chamferzone! I had purchased Tim's ultimate weapon tutorial a while ago but due to either work or side projects It kept slipping my mind until a few days ago, but I'm very glad that I finally got into this.
I primarily wanted a full refresh on the Substance texturing process, and this tutorial was such an amazing decision. I've already learned so much about Substance Painter from the texturing portion-definitely planning to go back through the entire modeling and UV portions as well to pick up some more skills!
The AKM itself was a lot of fun to work on, I already had a good suite of materials purchased from this site for some additional help on giving the model my own spin which I think went really well. I'm super happy with the final results and I feel the goal to make a really well worn, dirty kind of look for the rifle was pretty on point for what I wanted. Definitely have tons more to learn of course but now that I've fully gotten back into SP, I'm looking forward to taking my own assets into it and making a bunch more!
Thanks again to Tim Bergholz! (https://www.artstation.com/timbergholz)
