Sins of the Prophets 2 - Vindication-class Light Battleship

The introduction of the Vindication-class Light Battleship in Halo 4 was rather limited, mostly confined to promotional content and the final level of the game as a low-poly skybox asset. With the aim of incorporating this asset into Sins of the Prophets 2, we sought to re-envision it as a standalone unit. Given the scarcity of reference material, a decision was made to take a new approach to its design, resulting in a fresh concept iteration. The objective was to retain the essence of the original design while aligning it with the established standards of our ongoing project.
The final concept, crafted by Callum Dainty achieved these objectives. It managed to preserve the key elements of the Vindication's silhouette while also integrating it harmoniously with the existing units in Sins of the Prophets 2. To achieve this, the design underwent simplification of its fundamental shapes, a step that helped to ensure its cohesiveness within the broader unit roster of the project.
Working off of the new concept, I modelled, UVed and textured what would become the final asset - translating the concept to 3D, and adding in additional surface details and definitions for forms to better fit it alongside existing assets. The final process of texturing was handled through our material pipeline, making use of a set of procedural plating materials to generate the base plating, created by Jess Gollins and Jacob Stokes.
